GTRI is currently seeking a Professional Services Consulting Engineer I for its rapidly growing, Splunk-based data intelligence practice. This position will work with pre-sales engineering to help scope client’s eventual professional services engagements and deliver Splunk services for GTRI’s Big Data & Analytics Practice (BD&A).


This candidate will help scope deployment projects collaborating with GTRI sales teams along with managing onsite project delivery while maintaining clear, detailed communication with sales, practice, project management leadership and the customer team. This candidate will leverage broad business and technical experience to contribute solutions you develop in the field to Splunk product documentation, customer demos and Splunk Base. In addition, the BD&A practice is seeking a Consulting Engineer with a strong, demonstrable background in security to help augment and complement the existing GTRI BD&A team.


Previous Splunk software experience is highly desired, and required

  • 3+ Years’ experience with technical and business consulting
  • Experience with business strategy, improving processes and making recommendations in business processes for operational processes metrics and results
  • A broad understanding of common enterprise applications, especially in the areas of security and finance
  • Strong business and technical acumen is a must
  • Able to quickly understand and interpret customer problems and navigate complex organizations.
  • Effective at communicating clearly across technical and business audiences
  • Experience supporting large scale application or infrastructure deployments and performing integration work through multiple product releases
  • Current experience working with Linux/UNIX and Windows Operating Systems


Minimum Requirements: I’ve already done that!

  • 5-10 years' experience in technical services and support roles for enterprise IT software, enterprise systems, or enterprise networks
  • 5+ Years in security with experience in Single Sign On (SSO), AD/LDAP, DNS, SAML and SIEM
  • A broad background in Splunk, security and technical infrastructure, including servers, networking devices, and storage
  • Travel required: up to 75% throughout United States and spending weeks near clients (minus weekends)
  • Well organized with a healthy sense of urgency, and able to set, communicate, and meet aggressive deadlines and milestones
  • Self-motivated and self-educating, yet willing and able to work collaboratively with both customers and fellow Splunkers
  • Splunk Certified Administrator at a minimum

Desirable Skills and Experience:

  • Programming and development skills, including Python, Perl, shell scripting, regular expressions, SQL, and HTML/Javascript
  • Experience in successful startups in the areas of systems management, log management, SIEM, security is and CISSP is strongly preferred.
  • Splunk Certified Architect and/or Consultant I or II
  • Strong experience administering and monitoring enterprise operating systems, including Linux, Windows, and Solaris.
  • Experiencing deploying and administering server and network virtualization technologies
  • MBA preferred

Education: I've Got It!

  • Bachelor's degree is required.
  • Preferred degree in Computer Science or Engineering or similar
